I'm a mom and Pediatric Speech Therapist, and currently spend my days balancing those two things. Here I write about DESIGN,MOTHERHOOD, STYLE AT HOME and LIFE in Seattle. Click HERE to read more about me. Say hi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I decorated and then un-decorated for Christmas this year. Just craving less stuff in so many areas of my life right now, and realizing that sometimes simple decor can make a bigger impact. The one item I won’t part with: that stocking my grandma hand knit for me in the 80s. ❤️ In 2019 I’m hoping for simple, meaningful, fewer better things.
All the Christmas mail and all the Christmas patterns with my tiny little elf. ❤️🌲
It’s official. Happy December first! 🎄❤️

My contribution year after year. Long live the cheese plate. Happy thanksgiving! 🦃
I love being a mom. I also love working. I so rarely share about it on this platform, but I’m a pediatric speech therapist and I work part-time. I get that having a grad degree in your back pocket allowing for part-time work is a luxury very few have, and I don’t take it for granted for a second. Most of my friends were given the choice: either full-time or no time (if given the choice at all).
The rhythm my family is in right now is a good one, and I try to fight the “grass is greener” mentality by remembering that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to motherhood and work. I know amazing stay at home moms and full-time working moms and everything in between. I know there are a myriad of factors that play into those decisions and we so often only see a fraction of the whole story. The things I have that help me pull this off behind the scenes are: amazing childcare, and a husband who is all-in when he is home. I do not do this alone. .
There are a million ways to mother, and a million ways to work. However you choose to schedule your days, know that you’re doing it in the exact right way for you and your unique family. It doesn’t matter how your mom did it, or your neighbor, or the majority in your group of friends, or that person online. However you do it - it all works. Carry on, mamas. 🙌🏼
I was in west elm this morning shopping with my mother in law and sister in law and saw all the cute holiday decor and thought “why do I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate?” Got home and immediately pulled out all the boxes. Adding a few simple touches here and there and can confidently say the research is true - people who decorate for Christmas earlier are happier. 😍❤️🌲
